Jeez sometimes I dunno why comments are allowed on blogs. I've been inside this tree (Yes you can touch me but you'll have to get in line). It is real. The tree is naturally hollow and was not harmed in the creation of the bar. In fact the tree is in such good shape it can easily live another 10k years if we don't kill off it's water supply. well, ya they turned it into a bar, ya Im a little pissed that the thing is 6000 years old and the bar wont last 60, ya, but it is ingenious how they did it, if the tree naturally hollows out, why worry about it dying, when it lasted for 6000 years, I think it will last more! so let them have their bar inside, it wont hurt, the tree may die, but their are a bunch of others, maybe not 6000 years old, maybe less, but maybe 2 times as old! so quit yapping bout it. For the people who are bitching about turning it into a bar. What did you want them to do? It could be an animals home? They run a farm and they don't need termites or bees infesting something near their house, and they obviously care about animals.That and the best way to recycle is to reuse, either they could have built a bar and left this natural wonder for no one to see, not that there are thousands of trees exactly like this one spread around Africa. Oh except those ones don't have bars making people aware of these natural beauties. Anyone seriously upset about them using the tree to let soem people drink once in awhile definitely do far more harmful things to the environment then these people have done.
