In my opinion, I think 17 and 7 do NOT contradict each other. I think 17 is saying if someone does you wrong. Cheats, etc and apologizes and means it, do not give them a third chance, only a second. While #7 means like say you're teaching someone piano. If you are the instructor and they are trying their hardest, don't give up on them. They could become one of the greatest pianist with hard work and determination. And your persistance in teaching and not giving up on them.

I think if you give a second chance to someone you give them the energy that sais you will never give up but if they make the same mistake when they could have easly avoided it then the falt is theirs. If they mess up once shame on them but be suportive if they mess up twice shame on you for trusting them.
The outcome always varies baced on the situation.

Anonymous said...

"Never give up on anyone".
"Give people a second chance but not a third".

Totally contradictory.

Not a simple selfish child.

Full explanation:

Have a firm handshake - Squeeze hands hard. People will assume you are dangerous.
Look people in the eye - Stare at people. People will assume you are psychotic.
Sing in the shower - Sing and talk to yourself. People will assume you are a schizophrenic
Own a great stereo system - Spend thousands of dollars on sound equipment. People will call you a sound geek
If in a fight, hit first and hit hard - Start fights, people will assume you are dangerous.
Keep secrets. - Act like there is a conspiracy that all others are in on. People will assume you are psychotic.
Never give up on anybody. Miracles happen everyday. - Assume that everlasting facts change, throw kids from buildings, they might learn to fly.
Always accept an outstretched hand. - Cannibalism, how bad can it be?
Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference. -Lie to people, take on more than you know you can handle.
Whistle. - Don't.
Avoid sarcastic remarks. -Yeah, right.
Choose your life's mate carefully. From this one decision will come 90 per cent of all your happiness or misery. -Browse their diary, read their email, study their facebook conversations, listen in on conversations and learn as much as you can before you introduce yourself.
Make it a habit to do nice things for people who will never find out. -Sorting your future life partners underwear is a service.
Lend only those books you never care to see again. -Own books you do not like, don't give them to charity or sell them, just lend them out so you can have a hold on them if you need to make them feel guilty.
Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all that they have. -Steal all other, things bolted down can be pried away.
When playing games with ! children, let them win. -Kids shall learn that they always win, it makes the fall greater when they go to school and learn this is a lie the hard way.
Give people a second chance, but not a third. -Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrise, is not an English sentence.
Be romantic. -Or else.
Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know. -It makes people feel inadequate and bad in comparison. Then you win.
Loosen up. Relax. Except for rare life-and-death matters, nothing is as important as it first seems. -And you never know until its too late when you don't even care about day to day stuff so you don't need to worry about doing anything in the life-or-death matters either since it will be too late when they come up.
Don't allow the phone to interrupt important moments. It's there for our convenience, not the caller's. -If everyone thinks like this we can finally put those goddamn phone companies out of business.
Be a good loser. -Win at loosing.
Be a good winner. -Win at winning.
Think twice before burdening a friend with a secret. -Can you make it His burden entirely?
When someone hugs you, let them be the first to let go. -People will assume you are needy and back off.
Be modest. A lot was accomplished before you were born. -A lot will be accomplished when you are alive and when you are dead, why bother helping, stuff will get done anyway.
Keep it simple. -Fuckit.

Lucas Lundstrom said...

Beware of the person who has nothing to lose. -He is lying and you can always find Something worth taking.
Don't burn bridges. You'll be surprised how many times you have to cross the same river. -Boats are expensive.
Live your life so that your epitaph could read, No Regrets -Have no morals, no ethics, no scruples.
Be bold and courageous. When you look back on life, you'll regret the -Fuck grammar!
things you didn't do more than the one's you did. -Be bold, you will regret spending time in English class when you can be having sex.
Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them. -Tell everyone, eventually someone will believe you so you can rob them of everything they have.
Remember no one makes it alone. Have a grateful heart and be quick to acknowledge those who helped you. -Share the loot, or you will get highjacked.
Take charge of your attitude. Don't let someone else choose it for you. -Fuck other peoples advice. YOU know best. Teachers blow.
Visit friends and relatives when they are in hospital; you need only stay a few minutes. -Get in on that inheritage while you can.
Begin each day with some of your favorite music. -Waking up to that special song as your alarm will make it your hate song within a week.
Once in a while, take the scenic route. -There might be someone vulnerable out there.
Send a lot of Valentine cards. Sign them, 'Someone who thinks you're terrific.' -People need hope to get completely crushed for real.
Answer the phone with enthusiasm and energy in your voice. -Scream at people on the phone. Eventually they will stop calling.
Keep a note pad and pencil on your bed-side table. Million-dollar ideas sometimes strike at 3 a.m. -Stabbing your partner is sometimes the right thing to do, a pencil instead of a knife can pass 1st degree down to 2nd degree, especially if you write her a suicide note.
Show respect for everyone who works for a living, regardless of how trivial their job. -You might need them to be your fake alibi later on.
Send your loved ones flowers. Think of a reason later. -At least 5-10% will be allergic.
Make someone's day by paying the toll for the person in the car behind you. -It will really fuck with their mind and it takes so little to start the slippery into full blown schizophrenia and thinking you have multiple personality's acting without each others knowledge.
Become someone's hero. -Destroy someones life, at least One other person will thank you for ever.
Marry only for love. -Love of money, love of power or love of estate. Don't marry someone because you like THEM, only marry for love.
Count your blessings. -You might need to answer how many you have 'blessed' in a court of law.
Compliment the meal when you're a guest in someone's home. -Not the host.
Wave at the children on a school bus. - People will assume you are a pedophile and never let kids trick-or-treat at your house.
Remember that 80 per cent of the success in any job is based on your ability to deal with people. -So only put in 20% work at your job.
Don't expect life to be fair. -Make your happiness by taking someone else s happiness from them.

Some of these are ok, some of them are downright absurd. For example, #16...let children win...always? Really? Then I suppose you expect us to raise whiny, self-absorbed, entitled brats who expect to get everything they ask for. Some of my best childhood memories are playing checkers with my great-grandfather. He never let me win, but he wasn't an ass about it. I carried that on with my own son, and wouldn't change a single moment of either of our lives. Seriously, quit hugging yourself.
